Learning to Learn.

I will be honest with anyone reading this, I do not really know what I am doing. I am currently studying a degree that may not get me too far in life, and all I hope is to build other skills alongside it. While I would say I am a good student, sometimes I tend to get enthusiastic, then forget what I was doing. I am sure you have had similar experiences with hobbies and such, but this is important to me.

I thought to myself, what is the best way to keep me engaged and held responsible? Ofc I could continue to update my Mom about how my studies are going, and she will remind me of the goals I wish to achieve, but I want to try something new. Telling strangers what I want to do, and letting them remind me.

Anyway, in these blogs I will keep track of all that I have learned, how I learned them, what I found difficult, and what I found easy. Maybe the readers will learn something about learning or just pick up some fun facts on the way.

Some of my goals involve languages, others more hands-on skills; the first I would like to improve in would be my writing skills.

You see, I grew up in a different country from where I was born, because of this, I only read and wrote in that foreign one, making me skip all the English classics.

I would say I am not a bad writer, and I know how to understand all sorts of literature, but I want to read more in English, write more in English, and simply be better in English.

I have my final assessment coming up in 3 weeks' time, so for now I won't be getting into any other things to get my English skills up other than writing this blog, after that I aim to read 1 book a week and write a report on it. And ofc I will bring you along the way.

Another goal of mine is to learn German. Living in Europe, German is a very important language; the country offers many job opportunities, and while it has its own share of problems to deal with, financially, it would not be a bad target.

To be honest, I do not really know where to start with German. I have watched a YouTube video by Max Yoko, he has his own learning curriculum you can follow, and he set out a few good guidelines to follow.

I also got the Duolingo plan to do that when I have a few spare minutes- just try to stay consistent. I also have many German-speaking friends, I plan to practice with them, ofc I will be awful at first, but there is no problem with that, as long as I try to improve.

I don't have a set goal for German, I have 3 more years in my study, I know, some time, and I hope to get to at least a B2 level by then, maybe even do an exam. Maybe I will even set a goal to speak in a C1 level, grammar and writing have always been an issue for me, but I have fun practicing/speaking a language :)

I also want to learn more about writing digital skills, like Photoshop/InDesign/illustrator. I see a lot of jobs like that, also, I am in an artistic field, and the way the world is going, it will be good to stay on top of these skills.

I have had some lessons in my first semester with Adobe programs that I can always revisit, but I am sure there are plenty of courses and videos for me to follow online, I assume I can also find some on Kahn Academy, its an amazing platform for people to learn from for free, would highly recommend it.

I suppose that is all, really. It will be quite a task, but I am sure it will be worth it.

Oh, I also want to pick up programming again. I used to mess around with it in high school. I enjoyed it, but never really progressed to a higher level. Once again, there will be a lot about AI and programming online, courses I will definitely follow.

Other than these skills, I will also work on the hands-on skills that I need for my study, information I do not wish to disclose online.

Alrighty Stangers, I feel rather motivated to start learning.

so happy Learning about Learning people :)
